The Fangacci refuge is a well-known location among hiking lovers in the Foreste Casentinesi National Park. It is located 1234 meters above sea level.
It is a special place where you can enjoy incredible experiences in harness with the surrounding nature and hiking trips that will be etched in your memory for a lifetime. The refuge is a starting point, a retreat where you can rest while enjoying the charm of the mountain.
Every refuge is an experience on its own, a story in itself, a journey to take, a wood to explore, and a forest to listen to. The Fangacci Refuge was built in the 1950s and belonged to the Carabinieri Corps of the Biodiversity Division of Pratovecchio. From 2020 it is managed exclusively by Fitness Tuscany. In the heart of the Casentinesi Forests, it is located between the Hermitage of Camoldi and the village of Badia Prataglia, near the Fangacci Pass.
Our vision promotes the respect for our Woods and Forests, an ancient ecosystem and a complex biodiversity hotspot. You can take advantage of your stay with us to experience a spiritual retreat, but also to go trekking or mountain biking in the Casentinesi Forests or to enjoy the mountains between Tuscany and Emilia-Romagna regions.
The refuge can host up to 6/8 people. It is equipped with a kitchen, a stove, a fire-place and spring water (unchecked). You can stay here for short stays or for events. Electricity is guaranteed by a generator that is turned on only at certain times of the day, in order to save energy and reduce pollution.
You will definetly have the opportunity to go hiking and mountain biking, in groups or with your family, along the many trails near the refuge accompanied by certified guides. You can also enjoy our yoga lessons and forest therapy with qualified teachers.
